Our role is to oversee the strategic direction of the school, ensure strong governance, and make sure that every decision supports the best possible outcomes for our pupils. We work closely with school leaders to safeguard both the school and charity’s future, provide accountability, and champion the needs of every child and young person in our school community. We ensure that our 4 core values; Community, Collaboration, Curiosity and Compassion – are the golden thread that run through the school’s everyday practices.

Our Commitment

As trustees, we are passionate about our school and deeply committed to its success. Many of us have personal or professional links with SEND, and we share a belief that every pupil deserves to thrive in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment. Our priority is to make sure the school remains a place where children are valued, nurtured, and challenged to achieve their very best. The trustees follow the Nolan Principals of Public Life. These guide how we work and the values that we bring to our role. Please click here for more information The Seven Principles of Public Life – GOV.UK

The board meets regularly to provide strategic oversight and leadership to ensure that our pupils receive the best possible education within an environment where individual needs are understood and supported. Safeguarding and wellbeing of every pupil is our highest priority.  Board meetings are typically scheduled termly with additional committee meetings held that focus on specific areas of: Education, Learning and Curriculum, Safeguarding, and Finance and School Operations. Trustees use these meetings to review progress against the school’s development plans, monitor compliance with statutory duties, ensure safeguarding remains a priority, approve budgets and policies and hold the school leaders to account. Extraordinary meetings may be called when urgent decisions are required.

We are always keen to hear from people who share our commitment to children with special educational needs and disabilities. Becoming a trustee is a rewarding way to make a real difference, bringing your skills and experience to support our pupils, staff, and wider community. If you are interested in joining our board, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch at megantrustee@woodstockhouseschool.co.uk
